I am tired of hills. So I have bought a map and I am going to try the Platte river. What a relief not to have to do another hill. I got a little lost at the start and fell off the Platte trail onto the clear creek trail. I followed a guy who said he knew where he was going and ended up on a dead end. So back to the start. I got on the proper trail and headed down town. To say there are a lot of trails that connect would be an understatement. Especially around REI where all trails converge (I found that out when I got home). REI was a mecca of cyclists, I have never seen so many in one location. Very Cool!
So I cycled down hoping to hit the cherry creek reservoir but I missed that trail. I ended up turning just before hampden where I fell of my bike. I turned round and headed back 47 miles later I was at the car! I was done. Hence not going the extra 3 miles.
So my gears have been slipping lately so I headed to Golden Bear to get it looked at. Mostly due to cycling through the grit and dirt in SD and ruined the chain and the back cassette. So I'm looking at 200 dollars for the parts. Bummer. I was informed that I should change my chain every 1000 miles. That's every 10 weeks! This will drop to ever 8 weeks, the chains are 50 dollars a whack. So instead of blindly buying a new chain I will invest in a one of those tools for measuring the chain.
If you have never Cycled (or ran) The Platte river trail I highly recommend it. It was very scenic, well except for the sewerage works! I joined it at 88th and Colorado and there was plenty of parking.
Oh and one more thing after 47 miles I wasn't spent! The hill rides around my house usually leave me in bits!
